Mother Nature’s Filicide

I’ve heard of mother’s drowning,

Of Poison,

Of Melting,

I’ve heard of mother’s scraping,

And Chopping,

And Boiling,

I’ve heard of mother’s scratching,

And Biting,

And Slicing,

I’ve even heard of lynching,

And starving,

Gas-lighting.

Maybe they deserved it,

Perhaps they really begged,

Could it be they wished to try a

Romance with the dead?

Whatever the tragic reasons,

For callous forms of play,

I think Mother Nature’s Angry,

And We are in Her way.
